Under the claim “Enabling Circularity in Labels – with Adhesives & Coatings,” Henkel has been presenting its latest innovations at Labelexpo Europe 2025. The company is focused on two key areas: CO2 reduction and end-of-life solutions.

Henkel has been highlighting examples from its broad portfolio of technologies that support carbon footprint reduction: a range of PSA hot-melts for linerless label applications. This eliminates the need for a release liner, reducing material use and improving line efficiency. Furthermore, Henkel has also showcased its UV-curable hot-melt PSAs. This energy-efficient portfolio of pure-acrylic and modified solutions is curable with mercury and UV LED systems.

More manufacturers are adopting UV technologies for their resistance to heat, chemicals, and weather. Additionally, these systems are well-suited for demanding applications in labels, tapes, medical, and graphics.

Henkel is drawing on its deep expertise in supporting customers with the upcoming EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). A key solution is Aquence PS 3017 RE, a FINAT award-winning water-based adhesive for PET bottle labels. It enables efficient wash-off at lower temperatures, enhancing recyclability while reducing energy use. To complement this, Henkel’s in-house Packaging RecycLab offers certified recyclability assessments. This initiative helps customers design packaging aligned with circular economy principles.
